It is with great pleasure to share with my fellow Somalis and friends of Somalia that the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia is reopening its United States Embassy for the first time in a quarter century. Somalia’s absence from the diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. cumulates in this historic day for Somalia, friends of Somalia and the world.
The reopening of the Somali Embassy is a symbol for the progress that is taking place in Somalia, and it is the result of ongoing efforts to revive the country’s diplomatic ties across the world.
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia will serve to strengthen the US- Somalia relationship as well as contribute to peace and development for East Africa and the world at large.
The Embassy reopening event will take place on Wednesday November 18, 2015 at Mayflower Hotel from 1-4pm.
